Hello & here we go! So a little about me & the purpose of this blog: I have always enjoyed writing and in recent years have come to enjoy reading and learning from a number of wonderful blogs I have come across. I have also become increasingly intrigued by the platform blogging can create to potentially cast a wide net to further the reason or purpose behind the writing. There is a dizzingly vast array of topics to be found on the blogs of women and men across America, and beyond. There is a reason and a season for every blog began. I took a stab at blogging once before but the scope and purpose of my writing was so limited on that particular personal blog that it quickly fizzled out, unable to be sustained. I believe in His providence, the good Lord planned for the intersection of three of my personal loves & interests: Writing, photography, and orphan care. As you continue to follow my blog, you will come to learn more about how the three will be intertwined here. But for now, let me say: I have recently become aware that by way of the platform of a mere blog, Christian believers have a surprisingly easy, yet meaningful ability to further the advance of His kingdom and make His name known among the nations. Yes, this small effort is but a drop in the bucket reflecting the overwhelming need that exists today in orphans across the world. But as Mother Teresa said, “Love is doing small things with great love.” Here in my small slice of the blogosphere, by God’s grace, I will strive to do small things with great love. I am now a registered blogger for World Vision, LifeSong, Compassion International, and Gospel for Asia. Lord willing, here is the first in what will be a long line of updates from these ministries I am partnering with to bring information concerning some of the neediest nations. The purpose listed on the website of LifeSong for Orphans of partnering with bloggers, is as follows: “Using blogs to advocate for the fatherless!” Below is March’s Mission Moment blog post from LifeSong:
One Child. One Life. One Soul.
An ongoing theme of our ministry is the power of ONE. Not to ignore the often overwhelming 147 million orphan statistic, but to focus on making an impact on ONE child. As Andy Stanley says, “Do for ONE what you wish you could do for every one. And when do you for ONE, you often end up doing for far more than just one.”
Please enjoy these ONE child stories…
