Did you see our great big list of gifts that give back? Hopefully you’re inspired and empowered to start shopping for a cause! Today I want to share with you a quick and easy idea to streamline your gift wrapping this holiday season – easy DIY shabby chic gift wrapping!
Just like we all tend to gravitate toward convenience foods to save time in a pinch, we tend to naturally assume we need to buy rolls and rolls of typical wrapping paper to get all our wrapping done.
If you’re anything like me, you like to think outside the box and introduce your kids to new and creative ways of doing things – but often time lack time and attention to do so. Turns out it’s incredibly easy to knock out a whole lotta wrapping all at once and still be able to customize and personalize gifts a bit when you’ve got the supplies you need all ready to go.
Allow me to suggest a handful of items for you to create a vintage, shabby chic, or whatever look all your own as you customize wrapping for everyone on your gift list 🙂
You’ll need:
- Scissors
- Tape
- Brown butcher paper
- Blank gift tags
- Washi Tape (I found my gold sparkly tape at Five Below)
- Jingle Bells (I found mine for 40% off at Hobby Lobby)
- Stretch twine (Mine is also from Hobby Lobby)
- Ribbon (Mine is also from Hobby Lobby)
- Cinnamon or Spring of Pine (If you’re feeling adventurous enough to string something like that on with your ribbon)
Have fun and really make it your own! This project is creative enough that most kids will love to join you and most people will love receiving a gift custom wrapped this way! The delight is in the details 🙂
Have YOU ever tried any custom or vintage gift wrapping techniques? Would love to hear 🙂
Brilliant !
Thanks Mary!
Cute idea! I love the DIY aspect of it and most of the materials I already have from crafting!

Very cute. I definitely need to get away from the generic gift wrap…it looks so boring under my tree. Thanks for the ideas!
Absolutely! Have fun and Happy Holidays!
This is so lovely. I’m so lazy when it comes to wrapping gifts.
Haha I totally get that! This is definitely not my norm – just my shoot for the moon goal 😉
Gorgeous! Love it!
Awe thanks so much!
So so cute!!! This a must try for next year!!! I wrapped mine in jute 🙂 they were cute!
Wow way to go girl! Super on the ball! Merry Christmas 🙂
Such a great idea with the brown butcher paper! One year when I was wrapping some last minute gifts and ran out of gift wrap I resorted to using black and white newspaper. That was interesting!
Oh my gosh! So cute! I’m going to try this out 🙂
How brilliant!! Your friends must know love them when they receive a gift with that must care and time put into the wrapping! Xo
