You know those days when your legs and feet are aching after a long day out and about – Or those stolen moments you grab for a soothing soak in the tub? Here is just the thing you’ll want to have ready for your bath or footbath!
This energizing Peppermint Salt Scrub would also make a wonderful gift for anyone – It is quick and easy to make and it only contains 4 ingredients! In 30 minutes or less, you could whip up a half dozen jars of this salt scrub with ingredients you probably already have around the house, all for a slight fraction of the cost to buy as many jars of pre-made scrub 🙂
And the best part is you know exactly what’s going into your salt scrub recipe, so there’s no need to worry about harsh chemicals. Peppermint oil is wonderful for the body – it has a slight numbing effect which helps reduce skin irritations and itchiness, plus it is thought to be great for relieving headaches. Research also shows that peppermint oil is effective in calming depression and anxiety. Salt is a natural exfoliant and olive oil is a great natural moisturizer for your skin.
You can easily make up a big batch and gift some to neighbors and friends, take one as a hostess gift to your holiday parties, or whatever your heart desires! Just be sure to save some to spoil yourself too 😉
Ingredients:
- Empty mason jars
- Mixing bowl
- Measuring cup
- Spoon
- Olive oil
- Sea Salt
- Honey
- Peppermint Essential oil
Instructions:
- Gather ingredients–olive oil, honey, salt, & Peppermint essential oil ( or other oil of your choice).
- Measure 1/3 cup honey into a measuring cup; add 1/2 cup olive oil; mix well
- Add approximately 3/4 cup salt, a little at a time, mixing well until mixture reaches a thick, yet scoopable consistency. Add 5-10 drops of essential oil & mix well again.
- Transfer to jar or other airtight container.
This recipe can easily double, triple, or more depending on how many jars you’d like to make. I always love to make up a huge batch at once so that we have enough to both give away and at least one or two to keep, to use at home. This luxurious DIY treat would make the perfect Mother’s Day gift! Grab your own pretty printable instructions to use or even enclose with your gift here: DIY Peppermint

(Do you know if this can be stored in plastic mason jars? I’ve seen them at Hobby Lobby and would be afraid to mail glass jars.)
Citrus oils break down plastics but you may be okay with Peppermint 🙂 Good luck and have fun!
This looks like an awesome gift idea!
Thanks Meg! I know I’d love to receive this scrub as a gift 😉
