Never forget.  Those two words have become synonymous with 9/11 and rightly so. I think tragedies like the Sandy Hook massacre should be no different, however.  Just as it became common to ask, “Where were you when the world stopped turning?” in reference to 9/11, it’s important to acknowledge that will forever be the way an important group of people think of the events at Sandy Hook on 12/14/12.  That was the day the world as they knew it changed forever.  Yesterday was the two year anniversary of the Sandy Hook shooting and I wanted to bring it to your attention for those unaware. Because in the words of George Santayana, “Those who ignore history are bound to repeat it.”
According to the Huffington Post, “It’s been two years since the heartbreaking events at Sandy Hook Elementary and on Dec. 14, we’ll stand together to remember the lives lost. In honor of the anniversary, Newtown, Conn. residents are asking everyone to perform acts of kindness as a way to promote good in the world and honor the 26 victims of the school shooting.”  Please visit the links for ideas on how to honor the victims and their families with kindness – more kindness ideas here, here, and here.  The Ruth Experience is also sharing acts of kindness ideas all throughout Advent!
Here are a few other resources you may want to consider learning more about: My Sandy Hook Family and the Sandy Hook Fund. The Sandy Hook Fund was established by local Sandy Hook parents and friends dedicated to providing immediate and continuing support for the 26 families of those who lost children and loved ones in the tragedy.

We stand with you, Newtown, and will never forget!
Make A Difference Mondays is a weekly linkup designed to encourage and inspire us to live each day on purpose—making a meaningful difference in someone’s life in even the smallest of ways. There will be five women regularly co-hosting this link-up that will appear on all five of our blogs and we also have three wonderful co-hosts who will fill in as guest hosts on the occasional day that a regular co-host is not able to post. Read on to learn more about our vision, mission, and how to link up!
Mission
Our mission is to provide a consistent gathering place for like-minded women to build online connections, share inspiration, and provide mutual encouragement and accountability as we seek to live intentionally and make a difference in the lives of those around us.
Vision
Every Monday we will invite bloggers to link-up any blog posts that encourage women to live life on purpose. This could include testimonies or goals from your own life, small acts of kindness or service, creative tips or ideas for showing consideration to others — the possibilities are endless. Our objective is to use our God-given time and resources to His glory!
Have you connected with the Make A Difference Mondays community on facebook yet?  We would love to get to know you!
