“I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for the Cigna Foundation, in partnership with Samahope. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.”
One of the incredible things about life is that every one of us has a unique and beautiful life story. Even better, we also get to partner with others to share stories worth telling!
You may consider yourself an unlikely storyteller, and oh how I understand that! Though I count it a great privilege to help tell the stories of others here on the blog, I never imagined I’d be blogging some day, let alone collaborating with organizations to get the word out about programs and initiatives making a difference that we can all be a part of.
Though as I’ve shared before, the main reason I felt drawn to start a blog is because of the fundamental belief that change starts from within. I knew it was time to be the change I wish to see! As a true lifestyle blog, you will find many topics here at She Lives Free, but one core focus and the forever heartbeat of this blog is social good.
Childbirth: Moms and babies in need
That’s why I’m thankful to be able to share a cause I believe will speak to the Mama hearts out there the way that it has mine!
Many moms-to-be or new moms in the United States are fortunate enough to have access to the health care they need for themselves and their little one. They can feel good about knowing their medical care – big or small – is provided in a safe, clean environment.
Sadly, not everyone in the world is so lucky. The Cigna Foundation has partnered with Samahope to help raise awareness and funds to improve the maternal health and safe childbirth resources provided to women around the world. And you can help, too.
Samahope enables anyone to directly fund doctors’ life-changing medical treatments for women and children in need from anywhere in the world. Yes, that means you really can help save lives from your living room – mind blowing, right?
The Cigna Foundation is supporting the program because of its focus on helping people overcome barriers like ethnicity, race, gender, age, geography or economics. This year’s Cigna Foundation World of Difference grant to Samahope is helping to train local nurses and fund doctors in India to provide treatment and surgery for people who need it most.
This year, Samahope is on a mission to protect the lives of women and children in need, and they aren’t stopping until they reach the goal of funding enough birth kits for 5,000 moms and 5,000 babies—10,000 lives. They are half-way there! Together, we’re on a mission to help 5,000 women deliver their babies safely and we need your help.
Here’s where we come in
Every two minutes a woman dies from preventable causes related to pregnancy and birth.
Just $5 can help provide a safe birth and protect two lives with a birth kit that includes sterile tools to enable a skilled birth attendant to protect a mother and child from life-threatening complications during childbirth.

Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does. – William James
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. – Margaret Mead
Will you join us in giving voice to the voiceless? Maybe part of your story is meant to be advocating for babies too small to speak for themselves. Maybe it’s spreading awareness by sharing and giving. Let us be the change we wish to see, starting right in our own homes!
