Hello! My name is Emma Brun, and I am the thirteen-year-old founder, photographer, and designer of the Etsy shop Hooplee! I love what I do, and I take pride in finding inspiration everywhere. I wanted to share some of my experiences of being a shop owner with you! Being the owner of a company is not easy, not even with Etsy, but regardless, it is an incredible experience.

Hooplee LogoI make personalized hoop art; mediums such as watercolor on canvas framed in an embroidery hoop. I have a dream to expand on that concept, but as most people do when they first start out, I am going to stick with the basics and learn how to do that well. This is a key step in ensuring the success of your business. The beginning is the most important part of the journey, and if you try to jump in too fast; it may not go so well! That isn’t to say that you can’t or shouldn’t make your dream into a full time reality, though.

If you have your goals, method, social media, and every other tool that you can think of set up before you start, it will be a benefit to you in the long run. In my case though, I had no knowledge of this, so I just started with three designs, no plan, no goals. It was just supposed to be a hobby, but it turned out to be much more than that. It turned out to be my dreams laid out in a messy, embroidery hoop-y path in front of me!

Once I realized that, I knew what I wanted to make of this new found hobby. I started planning everything out in my mind, I started dreaming up new ways to accomplish my goals and how to get myself out there.

And here I am today with a website that just recently launched. A computer for blogging in one hand, and my embroidery in the other. I can’t wait to see where this wild journey takes me!
