Welcome to Emma’s garden! ☀️🌸

Its all hers – concept, design, and caretaking! We bought seeds last night and she’s getting started today. She’ll be growing two kinds of onion, two kinds of lettuce, broccoli and peas to start.

Did you know studies confirm what we all intuitively know – that gardening can be incredibly therapeutic?

In more ways than one……

It promotes a sense of agency and being a part of something bigger than yourself. Nothing like the satisfaction of growing something yourself, especially from seed!

Also, getting your hands dirty in soil can increase your serotonin levels. Read that again or google it – its true! Serotonin is your brain’s happy chemical – a natural antidepressant that also strengthens your immune system.

Once you’re past the digging phase, if you kick off your shoes and do your gardening in your bare feet, you’ll get even more benefits. Walking barefoot on the earth is very grounding, leading to better sleep, immunity, and stress reduction!

Why? Humans are electrical beings and we carry a positive charge that builds up in our bodies. The earth has a negative charge so when we make contact, we discharge our excess energy, producing very real effects at the cellular level. Grounding reduces inflammation, cortisol and pain while increasing  energy and healing.

I could go on, but I’ll end with the most obvious and perhaps, most important benefit of all. Gardening gives you something to plan for and look forward to. “To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow” 🌼🙌🏻🦋

Anyone else planning a vegetable garden this year? We’re excited, especially because this is the first time we’ve grown veggies since the girls were little!
